The system of Portuguese vowels is easy to learn. There are seven phonetic vowels, although there are especial double vowels called diphthongs.

Portuguese vowels are identified on the basis of the oral cavity features, as they do not involve differences in duration or tenseness. This is the reason why Portuguese learners must be carefully when they pronounce Portuguese words.
