Portuguese is the sixth most spoken language in the world. Approximately it is spoken by about 210 million people all over the world: Portugal, Brazil, Africa, Asia, and by many immigrants in Canada and in the United States.

Portuguese is one of the official languages of the European Union and MERCOSUR (a trade association of numerous Latin-American countries that incorporates Brazil).
